PCD embedded in EU treaties
The Community has a legal obligation, contained in the Treaty, to ensure Policy Coherence for Development by taking an integrated approach to external relations, security, economic and development policies. The following tables offer a comprehensive overview of how coherence is embedded in the treaties, how it relates to development cooperation and who can be held responsible for incoherence.
- Firstly, the articles compel policymakers to seriously consider matters of coherence.
- Secondly, in case development cooperation policy is in any way involved the articles make clear that development policy should not be compromised.
