The Coherence King 2009

On December 10th, 2008, the EU Coherence Programme organized the EU Coherence Awards Ceremony,at the European Parliament. All MEPs who had earned a coherence star in the past few years were invited to come to the ceremony to receive their prize. As in every award ceremony, there can only be one winner, the winner of the EU Coherence Awards, MEP Thijs Berman, was proclaimed; Coherence King 2009.

On the 10th of December the EU Coherence Awards Ceremony will take place. All of the nominated Members of the European Parliament are invited to have a coffee and a slice of Coherence cake with us at the European Parliament in Brussels.  Room: A5G315 Time 10.30 - 11.30

He highlights the combined effects of these policies on developing countries. By doing so, he also points out some incoherencies between these policy fields, as one policy may be incoherent with another policy.

common position on the control of exports of military technology and equipment

On the 8th of December, a major step forward was made in the fight against illicit arms exports.  On this day, a common position was reached within the Council on common rules governing the control of exports of military technology and equipment,  replacing the already existing Code of Conduct on that subject.

The EU Coherence programme at the Development Days 2008

From 15 untill 17 November, the third edition of the European Development Days were held in Strasbourg. During these three days many workshops and seminars were organized around the topic; Local authorities in development.  NGO’s, National and European Politicians and civil servants, and guests from the South were all represented. Some organized workshops and seminars, and others provided information at their stands.
